CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – One of the two suspects being sought by Charlottesville Police in connection to Sunday’s shooting near 6th St. SE surrendered to police Monday, CPD announced.
Sherman Lerone Carter, 40, turned himself into police without incident, the department announced. He faces charges of attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
A second suspect, Jarod Cortez Carter, 37, is still being sought. He also faces charges of attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
CPD responded to a report of shots fired on Sunday at 2:41 p.m. at the 700 block of 6th St. SE. Officers found three vehicles and one unoccupied house had been hit by gunfire. There were no injuries reported in connection with the shooting.
