Olga Jareb, devoted mother, wife, and math educator died Thursday, March 7, 2024, surrounded by her family in Charlottesville, VA at the age of 96.

Olga was born July 24, 1927, in Zagreb, Croatia, daughter of the late Ante and Ruža (Kralj) Živković. While in Zagreb in the mid 1950’s Olga began corresponding with Jere Jareb, the future love of her life, helping him with archival documents for his graduate studies. She came to the U.S. in July 1959 and married Jere on September 12, 1959, in New York City. After living there for seven years, the Jareb family moved to Loretto, PA residing there for more than 40 years. While in Loretto, Olga completed her degree at St. Francis University and worked as a high school and middle school Math teacher. She and Jere moved to Charlottesville, VA to be closer to family a little over 10 years ago. Olga was full of energy, unstoppable, and unforgettable in trying to make the world around her a better place. Wherever Olga lived she made close friends that remained a part of her life. She was devoted to her family, and many became part of her extended family.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Jere Jareb; her brothers Zlatko Živković and Janko Živković; and her sister Božena Živković. She is survived by daughter Helena Jareb, widow of Peter Benda, of Silver Spring, MD; son Anton Jareb and wife Cara (Yankus) of Clifton, VA; son Ivan and wife Annette (Couch) of Charlottesville, VA; son Mark and wife Patricia (Alfieri) of Waterbury, CT; and grandchildren Aaron Benda, Jacob Benda, Colin Jareb, Caroline Jareb, Della Jareb, Saša Jareb, Samuel Jareb, and Nathan Jareb. She is also survived by her brothers Ante Živković and Marije Živković, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Funeral Mass: Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901 at 11 a.m. on March 15, 2024. Hill and Wood Funeral Service is assisting the family.
