CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee is seeking nominations for its 40th annual community awards to be presented during this year’s celebration event on Sunday, January 26 at the Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church on Lankford Avenue. The committee is accepting letters from community service groups and organizations for the proceeds from the celebration offering. The size of the grant depends upon the size of the offering. A letter describing how the money will be used is required.

This year’s 5pm, January 26 celebration at Mt. Zion is themed “Legacy: Remembering the Past, Trailblazing the Future”. Letters of nominations for the Martin Luther King Jr., proceeds must be postmarked no later than Thursday, January 23, 2025, and should be mailed to: Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church, 105 Lankford Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Community members wishing to make contributions may do so by sending checks payable to MLK to Mt.
