Nicole Alissa Rowley, 40, passed away in Charlottesville, Virginia, on March 11, 2024.
Born in Hawaii, Nicole moved to Virginia at the age of two with her parents, Dennis and Susan. She was a graduate of Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, where she excelled in academics as well as field hockey, track, and soccer. Nicole then attended the University of Virginia, where she majored in psychology. After college she worked in various fields across the country, spreading her joy to all who interacted with her, including the Capital Group, State Farm, Brutti’s Catering, Blackwood Family Medicine, and Ooey Gooey Crispy. Her most recent employment was at the award-winning Cake Bloom bakery in Charlottesville, where she found a second family with the staff. Nicole was a lover of animals, growing up with cats and helping to catsit for her siblings. An avid sports enthusiast, she had a particular love for ice hockey, rooting for the Colorado Avalanche. Her family and friends remember her as a caring, kind-hearted, and compassionate spirit. She was also a culinary genius, crafting the most unique combinations of flavors for cupcakes, scones, savory dishes, and more.
Nicole is survived by her parents, Dennis and Susan Rowley; as well as her three siblings, Sarah Myles, Christopher Rowley, and Emily Henning; two brothers-in-law, Michael Myles and Stephen Henning; two nieces, Marin and Maiya Myles; and nephew, Archer Henning.
A celebration of her beautiful life will be held for Nicole at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Rose Garden Hall in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, 6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, Virginia.
