GREENE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Newport News man has been charged with rape by force in Greene County.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile that had been sexually assaulted.

Greene County’s Criminal Investigation Division was able to determine that the alleged offender was Mateo Juan Nicolas, 24, and warrants were obtained.

On the morning of April 30, 2025, Greene County took Nicolas into custody. He charged with one count of rape by force. Investigators were also able to determine that Nicolas lived in Newport News and was wanted since 2021 for deportation from being illegally in the country.

Nicolas’ arrest came with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Because the victim is under the age of 16, no further information will be released.
