The School Board has appointed Dr. Tara Bartlett as the new principal of Jackson-Via Elementary School.

Dr. Bartlett, currently an assistant principal at Stanley Elementary School in Page County, will start her new role on July 1.

Bartlettt is stepping into the role left vacant by Dr. Malone as he transitions to Charlottesville Hight School.

According to a statement from the superintendent, Dr. Bartlett has a history of improving teacher competencies, boosting reading scores and SOL pass rates, and reducing chronic absenteeism.

Her career includes positions as a classroom teacher, ESL teacher, reading specialist/literacy coach, and ELL department chair across Chesterfield and Fairfax school divisions.
