NORFOLK, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/DAILY PRESS) – After kicking around in minor league football since his retirement from the NFL in 2017, former Virginia Tech and NFL star Michael Vick has confirmed to the Daily Press he’s in talks to become the next head football coach at Norfolk State University. The Spartans are looking for a coach since firing Dawson Odums who after leading them to a 6-5 record his first season as head coach four years ago, had losing records the last three. Rumors have been flying the past month or so, with Daily Press writer Michael Sauls has been speculating “there might be legs” to them. But today (Monday), Sauls got confirmation from Vick he and NSU are talking.
Vick, who has been under fire since being suspended for a couple of years from the NFL for running a dog-fighting ring in Surry County, reports the Newport News native “is intrigued by the opportunity of giving back to the Hampton Roads community that has long supported him”.
