Michael P. Davis, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Charlottesville, VA.
Born in Hollywood, FL, Mike moved to Charlottesville in 1977, where he pursued a Bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and had a successful 22 year career with Virginia Power Company. After his retirement from Virginia Power, he went on to have another successful career with the University Of Police Department, providing security to the JAG school for more than a decade.
Mike was an avid year- round sports fan. He was passionate about anything related to golf, football, skiing, often taking elaborate vacations to participate in the sports personally. He traveled great distances to be present in the viewing crowd of several PGA tournaments. His love of the golf sport was only rivaled by his own competitive golf game. He was a staple in the local golf community playing golf several times a week at courses across Central Virginia.
Although Virginia was his home, he never forgot his South Florida roots and his favorite teams included the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes. His collection of unique and autographed memorabilia is quite impressive.
He is predeceased in death by his parents Preston and Pauline Davis. He is survived by his brother, Rick (Leanna) of Troy, VA, several cousins in both Virginia and Florida, as well as many close friends that were like family for many years.
