CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – A memorial to honor the life of University of Virginia first-year student Nicolas Ramos-Esteban will be held Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00PM. on the South Lawn. Ramos-Esteban died on March 7 following a case of meningitis.

Details of the event were shared in a joint Instagram post by UVA Student Council and the class accounts for 2025-2028. The full text of the post reads:

“As some of you may know, we lost a member of our UVA family last week. Nicolas Ramos-Esteban was a loving, caring student who left an incredibly positive impact on countless lives. These past two weeks have been devastating for Nico’s family, friends, and the UVA community as we mourn the loss of our beloved friend. In times of mourning, coming together as a community and supporting each other can make a huge difference in the healing process. We hope to see you all there to honor the life of a profound student, friend, and member of our community who was truly loved by many.”

The post encouraged members of the university community to gather in remembrance of Ramos-Esteban, who was described as having made a lasting and meaningful impact.
