CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Maryland murder suspect was apprehended Monday at Sentara Martha Jefferson Emergency Department on Proffiit Road.

Dayton James Webber, 27, of La Plata, Md., is suspected of shooting and killing Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27, of Charlotte Hall, Md. On Sunday evening in La Plata, according to a release from the Charles County (Md.) Sheriff’s Office.

“This case is a strong example of interagency cooperation and the role that information-sharing plays in safely resolving serious incidents,” ACPD said in a release about the arrest.

Webber fled the scene of the shooting, driving off with Wells’s body still in the car. Two passengers who had been in the backseat of the vehicle when the shooting occurred fled the car and flagged down police to report the incident.

Wells’s body was found about two hours later at a home in Charlotte Hall.

An ACPD officer identified the car at an area gas station around 1:27 a.m. Monday, and, after reviewing security footage, tracked the suspect to the nearby hospital, according to the ACPD.

Webber was “seeking treatment for a medical issue,” per the Charles County release, which says ACPD took him into custody as a fugitive following his release from the hospital.

Webber will be extradited to Charles County where he will face first-degree murder, second degree-murder and other related charges.
