CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Reginald Eugene Lindsay, Jr. pled guilty to the homicide of Danny O’Brien Hall in Charlottesville Circuit Court on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Charlottesville Police Chief Michael Kochis says the two had been in an unknown conflict and had been seen interacting with each other the night before.
Then, at approximately 3 a.m., shots rang out in the 300 block of East Market Street. Hall was taken to UVA Medical Center, where he later died. Lindsay was arrested some five hours later in Louisa County.
Charlottesville Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania stated “while not an ideal outcome for Mr. Hall’s family, the almost total lack of cooperation by individuals with knowledge of this incident led to the case being resolved by a guilty plea to manslaughter. The Charlottesville Police Department gathered all available evidence and made substantial efforts to locate and attempt to interview eyewitnesses. This case highlights the difficulty of successfully investigating and prosecuting crimes of violence without community cooperation. Law enforcement is to be commended for their hard work.”
He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM and faces up to ten years in prison.
