ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle C0unty Police Department has released the name of the driver who was killed in a Tuesday morning head-on crash in North Garden.

At approximately 8:03 am, the Albemarle County PD and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Monacan Trail Road in the vicinity of Rock Branch Lane.

Upon arrival, first responders located a box truck and a pickup truck that had been involved in a head-on collision. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Randall D. Bickel, 67, of Covesville, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the box truck was transported to UVA Health for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
