CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 20-year-old Manassas man faces felony charges after a Culpeper Police and Internet Crimes Against Children task force investigation showed he offered to pay three children cash and “Robux” in exchange for sexually explicit images and videos.
On March 1, the CPD received a tip about the case, and forwarded that information to the ICAC office in Northern Virginia. Four days later, after warrants were obtained for Angel David Rubio Marin, Manassas City Police located and arrested Rubio Marin, according to a CPD release.
He is charged with charged with seven felony counts of using communications systems to facilitate offenses involving children.held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.
“Following an extensive review of available evidence, detectives learned that the suspect offered to pay three children under the age of 10 for sexually explicit videos and images,” the release said. “Not only did the suspect offer to pay with traditional currency, he also offered to pay them with “Robux,” an in-game currency for the popular online gaming platform, Roblox; commonly utilized by children.”
Additional charges may still be filed in this case and the CPD release said evidence indicates there could be additional victims.
