Lynwood Mitchell Davis, age 93, passed away on November 30, 2024. Born on July 2, 1931, he was the son of the late Randolph and Lillian Davis of Free Union.

Lynwood was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Gary Davis of Free Union.

Lynwood loved his family and devoted his life and career to supporting and caring for them, working for the phone company for over 40 years. Lynwood was loved for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was always ready with a joke and had an infectious laugh that drew in everyone he met. He carried a quiet but unwavering faith that was evident to those who knew him best.

He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica with friends and fellow musicians. Many friends and family would gather to hear and sing along as they played their favorite bluegrass tunes. In addition to family and music, Lynwood loved the outdoors. He was happiest when out in the backyard, tinkering in his shed or being shooed away from Lucky’s prized garden. He is already greatly missed by so many.

Lynwood is survived by his loving wife, Mary Craig “Craigie” Crockett Davis, whom he affectionately referred to as “Lucky”; his brother, AV Davis (Phyllis); his son, Gregg Davis (Nita); daughter-in-law, Leslie Davis; and beloved grandchildren, Gregg Davis, Jr. (Mollie), Jessica Lyn Davis, Heather Dudley, Tiffany Kardys, Niveah Davis, and Savanna Davis. He is survived by eight beautiful great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the team at Trinity Hospice for their comfort, care, and support during his last days.
