CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Saturday night lightning strike caused a house fire in the 400 block of Grayrock Drive, the Albemarle County Department of Fire and Rescue announced.

No one was injured. The residents were not home at the time and their pet cat was unharmed.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, ACFR received a report of a housefire. When the first fire suppression apparatus arrived on the scene about six minutes later, firefighters discovered smoke in the attic.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated and determined that the fire was the result of a lightning strike.
