Born December 28,1934 in High Point, N.C., she was the daughter of Robert and Margaret Fitch. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Clayton Sink, her parents, and her sister, Ruth Burton.
Kathryn was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose loving presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy extends beyond her roles as a devoted caregiver and nurturer; she was known for her delicious southern cooking, always making her children’s favorite meals and homemade cakes, while sharing recipes and practical wisdom which have been passed through generations.
Kathryn and Charles moved to Sanford in 1956 where they raised their four children. They were long-standing members of Trinity Lutheran Church. For 25 years, she diligently served as the bookkeeper at Wilkinson Cadillac and Oldsmobile, demonstrating her steadfast commitment to her work. Kathryn found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether strolling along the beach, camping with family, or walking in the park with friends. She cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. A loyal fan of the Carolina Tarheels, Kathryn’s enthusiastic cheers echoed through every game. Her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire love and kindness in the lives she enriched.
Kathryn is survived by her children, daughter Kathy Sink of Charlottesville, Va.; son Robert Sink and wife Robin of Clinton, N.C.; son Michael Sink of Durham, N.C.; daughter Mary Anne Mayo, and husband Marty of Charlottesville, Va.; grandchildren Scott Sink, Adam Sink and wife Kristin, Lauren Phillips and husband Spencer, Lauren Davis and husband Brad Deal, Taylor Davis, Zachary Mayo and wife Olivia, Kathryn Mayo, Jacob Mayo, and Matthew Mayo; and great-grandchildren Ellie Sink, Parker Sink, and Samuel Phillips.
