Kathryn Ann (Hoesch) Greaver Rockwood, 99, of Charlottesville, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was married to the late Frederick F. Greaver Sr. who passed away in 1981, and the late Theodore B. Rockwood who passed away in 1993.

Kathryn was born on February 24,1925, in Stanton, Nebraska, daughter of the late Henry and Laura May (Smith) Hoesch. She graduated from high school in Temple, Texas, and North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, with a bachelor’s degree.

Kathryn was a stewardess for United Airlines in the late1940’s where she met her first husband. Later, she met a former college classmate, Ted Rockwood, whom she married in 1985. Kathryn had a strong faith which she carried throughout her life. Her love of music led her to teach piano lessons. Kathryn was a member of First Methodist Church and later, Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, Charlottesville.

Kathryn is survived by her son, Maurice F. “Pogo” Greaver II, of West Virginia, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and stepson Tim Rockwood and stepdaughter Cynthia Roberts of Colorado and their families.

She was preceded in death by her son Frederick F. Greaver Jr. (husband of Julie Greaver), daughter Henrietta “Betty” Greaver (wife of John Tehan), and her brothers Armin and Vernon Hoesch and their wives.
