Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia continues to play a transformative role in the lives of young people across the region. CEO Kate Lambert joined Morning News to share the club’s mission, achievements, and services.

“Our six Boys and Girls Clubs offer comprehensive year-round youth development programs for young people between the ages of 5 and 18,” Lambert explained. “We’re open every day after school, all day during the summer, and now we have expanded hours for teens on evenings and Saturdays.”

The organization focuses on critical areas such as academic success, health and well-being, and life readiness. Lambert highlighted their diverse programs, from STEM and financial literacy to sports like basketball and even a new squash team. “Every child needs a safe place to land when they’re not at home or school,” she emphasized.

Serving 850 kids weekly across six locations, the club remains an affordable resource for families, with fees as low as $15 a year for teens. Lambert credited community support for keeping programs accessible and impactful, saying, “We’re very lucky our community has supported us and continues to support us so that our membership fees remain low and affordable for families at only $35 to $150.00 for the whole year.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia remains a beacon of opportunity and support, fostering growth, safety, and a brighter future for local youth.
