Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – John Freeman, the voice of the Cavaliers, joined Morning News, bringing his signature optimism and insight.

Freeman highlighted Coach Sanchez’s dedication to the UVA men’s basketball team during a tough season. “This is a guy that is pouring his soul into this program, even though his future and the staff’s future is uncertain,” Freeman said. Despite the challenges, he commended the team’s determination to keep fighting, emphasizing their resilience and commitment to improvement. 

Freeman also previewed Virginia’s upcoming games, acknowledging the hurdles the team faces while expressing confidence in their ability to persevere. He took a moment to celebrate the program’s enduring success under Tony Bennett, reflecting on past victories. “We’ve got to learn, and me included, to really enjoy the successes when they happen and never get too used to it because it’s not normal. What happened for the last 10 years is not normal. We were the number one basketball program in the country for a long time,” he noted, reminding fans of the legacy built through hard work and unity.
