It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeremy Drumheller, a beloved member of the Charlottesville community, on Sunday, April 14th at the young age of 47. Known for his generous heart, Jeremy will be missed greatly but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Jeremy was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed helping others and was always there to lend a hand. His kindness knew no bounds and his patience and love extended to everyone he knew.
Jeremy was a true outdoorsman. He was happiest in the woods or fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. His hunting adventures began when his dad put him in a tree at eight years old and would pick him up at dark. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Jeremy would bribe his daughter, Josie, at just a few years old with gas station snacks so he wouldn’t miss a good hunt. His efforts paid off when she killed her first deer at nine years old.
For him, summertime was for fishing at Cape Charles. He knew the Bay like his own backyard. Day or night his phone would flood with messages from friends and family. They would fish for hours, making memories and searching for whichever fish was in season. His hunting and fishing buddies were his family, and he cherished his time with them. He always gave 110%, even with his pranks.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Jeremy had a love for sports. He started playing baseball at six years old and continued throughout his high school career and after with the Charlottesville Cardinals. His senior year, Jeremy was the MVP and made the All State Team. He also played golf at Charlottesville High School; Jeremy was named MVP all four years as well as competing in the state finals his senior year. As an adult golfer, he would often come home with a trophy. Still, Jeremy claimed to quit golf after every match. With that being said, his perfectionist personality and competitive nature always led him back to the course.
After graduating from CHS, Jeremy had a short stint at Virginia Tech before coming home with all his belongings just in time for hunting season. Despite only being 21, Jeremy began and ran a successful business for over 25 years. He will be remembered within the community for his dedication, perseverance, and friendly personality.
Jeremy leaves behind his parents (Larry Drumheller and Sharon Bingler Drumheller), wife (Sarah Drumheller), daughter (Josie Drumheller), sister and brother (Brandi Stauffer and Brady Drumheller), brother and sister-in-law (Justin Stauffer and Jessica Drumheller), and his nieces and nephews (Brody, Maisie, Kennedy, Reagan, and Tate). Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents (“Pnut” and Merle Bingler and Roy Glen and Marie Drumheller).
Jeremy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy of kindness, generosity, and outdoor adventures will live on in the hearts and memories of those he touched.
