Janice Kay (Weatherholtz) Shutts, 80, of Palmyra passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

Janice, a lifelong resident of Virginia, was born on December 26, 1943, to the late Ivan Weatherholtz and Elizabeth Riggles Weatherholtz.

She was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia where she met her husband Robert in grade school. They were married January 29, 1962, and, soon after, started their family as well as a construction company.

Janice spent her time running her household, in addition to managing the office for the company, where, for over 60 years, she continued to be Robert’s right-hand in his many business ventures. However, she would tell you that the most rewarding job she had was being a Mom to her three children and two nephews.

She made Fluvanna County her home for the past 40 years and enjoyed a nice meal out, caring for her cats and her hummingbirds, traveling with her close friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Kenny and brother, Eugene Weatherholtz.

Janice leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 62 years, Robert L. Shutts, Sr.; her daughters, Cindy Monroe and husband Danny; Loretta Willis and husband Kevin; her son, Robert L. Shutts, Jr.; and two nephews, whom she loved and raised as her own, Daniel Shutts and wife Susan and Dennis Shutts and wife Staci; as well as her grandchildren, Justine Zalokar, Roland Willis and R. Chase Willis; and her sister, Judith Thomas.
