Jaden Camaya Waddy, age 14, of Charlottesville, transitioned peacefully on March 19, 2024, surrounded by family.

She was born on June 11, 2009, to loving parents Jamol C Waddy and Letisia Allen-Waddy bringing joy and light to everyone who knew her.

Jaden was an overachieving 9th-grade freshman at Albemarle High School who competitively played youth softball and basketball. She also managed the AHS JV Boys’ Basketball team with passion and dedication. In addition, Jaden was a Trailblazer with the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, where she eagerly learned to be a tour guide for exhibits, which broadened her curiosity about black history evoking confidence when promoting Black Excellence. She excelled in every task set before her.

Jaden was outgoing and enjoyed singing, various genres of music, dancing, and creating TikTok videos. She also enjoyed attending high school and professional sporting events alongside her father, attending live performances with her mother, critiquing local eateries with her brother and sister, cooking with her cousins and siblings, and exploring local art exhibits. She loved to people-watch, loved fashion and was a collective sneakerhead. Most importantly, she never shied away from embracing the company of her parents and family.

Jaden was very adventurous and frequently traveled and explored new cities with her family. She was able to select a new city yearly and took full advantage. She was inspired to learn more about different cultures. Jaden also loved the beach and was an avid swimmer.

Jaden leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of those who love her. While her time on this earth was far too short, the impact she made will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her siblings Micah S. Jones and Robert M. Jones IV; her paternal grandparents Randolph and Cynthia Waddy; her maternal grandparents Steven and Barbara Allen; her great-grandparent Mary Clark; her aunts Shari Waddy, Natasha Gray (Chris), Erica Allen (forever her special aunt), and Jasmine Taylor; her uncles Randolph Jackson Sr. (Evelyn) and Brian Waddy; her first cousins Jasmin Jackson, Randolph Jackson Jr., Jendaiya Allen, Corey Waller, Carmen Waller, Morgan Gray, Jeremiah Shelton, Christian Gray, Isabella Waddy, and Azai Scott; and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
