Ivan Figueroa passed away on August 18, 2024, at the UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Ivan was born on November 3, 1941, in Penuelas, Puerto Rico.

He was raised by his grandmother in the mountains of Penuela, PR until his early teenage years. He always spoke of this time very fondly. He was then brought to Brooklyn, NY, by his father, Vicente Figueroa, where they cherished their close father and son relationship until the passing of Vicente. Ivan entered a career as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and then became a bus driver for the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

Ivan became a Christian shortly after coming to NY and gave his life to Christ entirely. His life reflected his love for the Lord and was a witness to many people. He loved music, especially merengue. He loved to travel and he loved the mountains. He loved the word of God through reading the Bible, and he enjoyed to listen to preachers on the radio and on television. He loved being around people and loved being around family and friends. He lived a simple, humble and active life of service to his Lord and he always had a smile on his face.

Ivan leaves behind his beloved wife, Carmen Iris Figueroa, his son Nelson (Julia) Figueroa, daughter Elizabeth (Steven) Klaman, grandchildren Tatyana, Rachel and Rosabelle, and his sister, Doris (Frank) Coppola, nephews Frankie and Stephen.
