Chicago, IL (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Democratic National Convention is underway in Chicago, bringing together high-profile speakers and passionate attendees. Jesse Crosson from Charlottesville, executive director of the Second Chancer Foundation and acting as an independent journalist, shared his on-the-ground experience, highlighting the convention’s non-stop schedule and vibrant atmosphere.
“It’s just all energy all the time,” said Crosson, noting the packed schedule with events starting at 9:00 AM and continuing until 2:00 AM. He also described the significance of speeches by former President Barack Obama, who emphasized unity, stating, “We want to bring people together rather than tearing them apart.”
In addition to the official convention activities, Crosson recounted a private event called “Hotties for Harris,” which focused on reproductive rights. He mentioned the event’s unique features, including a Kamala Harris dance montage and Plan B available in gumball machines, capturing the intersection of activism and celebration.
The convention has also sparked discussions on key issues, with Crosson noting that many women he spoke with are primarily focused on reproductive rights, while men have expressed a desire for a return to stability and professionalism in politics.
