CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – President Donald Trump visited the Charlottesville area Friday, hosting a fundraising dinner for his Super PAC, MAGA Inc., at Trump Winery, and watching the splashdown of the Artemis II astronauts.
After briefly huddling with the traveling press pool, discussing the war in Iran and the status of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump boarded Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland for the flight to Virginia on Friday afternoon, according to the White House press pool report.
Trump, the first sitting president to visit the area since Barack Obama in 2014, touched down at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport on board Air Force One at 5:52 p.m. From there, he boarded Marine One for a short helicopter ride to Trump Winery.
Marine One, with the President and others, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and senior advisor Chris LaCivita, reached the winery at 6:26 p.m. A four-minute motorcade brought Trump and the others through the vineyard, arriving at the main winery building at 6:35 p.m.
From there, Trump attended a MAGA Inc. meeting and roundtable dinner.
A White House official told the press pool that, at one point, a television was wheeled into the room for Trump and his guests to watch the return of American astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch and Canada’s Jeremy Hansen. The crew of the Artemis II splashed down off the coast of San Diego at 8:07 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
At 8:51 p.m., Trump’s motorcade transported him from the winery building to the helicopter landing zone. The President boarded four minutes later for the short flight back to Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport.
Marine One landed at CHO at 9:14 p.m. and the President was set to board Air Force One for his flight back to Joint Base Andrews.
