Ingeborg Van Hook passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the age of 96 after a long life filled with much love and laughter. Inge grew up in Germany, the oldest of 11 children, and met the love of her life, a handsome young American soldier named Mack Van Hook, in Munich in the spring of 1951. They soon married, had four children, all girls, and moved back and forth across the Atlantic multiple times during Mack’s military career. His career also took him on tours of duty in hazardous places while Inge held down the fort at home. They had the good fortune to be stationed in Charlottesville, VA in 1962 where they and their children found their forever home.
Inge and Mack loved playing tennis and continued to play the game into their 80’s. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary shortly before Mack’s death in 2022. At age 94, Inge traveled to Germany to celebrate one last Christmas with her family there, including a gathering of over 70 revelers at the family brewery.
Inge was a strong, gracious, and loving woman who will be forever missed by her daughters, Ginny, Tricia, Susan, and Jackie, their husbands/fiancés, children, and grandchildren, as well as her brother and sisters, nieces and nephews in Germany. Godspeed to the joyous reunion that awaits you, Mom!
