Harold Timmeny, 79, died September 27th, 2024 in Charlottesville, VA. He was born on October 13th, 1944, the son of Barbara and Harold Timmeny, Sr. in Tarrytown, NY. He had an early interest in learning, earning scholarships to a private boys high school and Fordham University in NYC.
With a strong aptitude for writing and speaking German, he was given a full scholarship to the University of Munich. Additionally, he earned a full scholarship from Syracuse University Law School to pursue a law degree, but after two years he realized this career was not for him. His fluency in the German language led him to a career in NY in a division of Chase Manhattan Bank in Munich, Germany.
After a career as Vice President of Chase, he moved to Charlottesville, VA. In his retirement, Harold found a community of close friends both young and old, and a passion for growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. He had the help of his young friend Miriam in maintaining his copious garden and enjoyed distributing the harvest to friends and neighbors as well as anyone in need.
Harold is survived by three sisters: Peg and Ellen Timmeny residing in NJ, and Mary Popora residing in NY.
He will be greatly missed and remembered for his wit and kindness.
