CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Rain on Wednesday and Thursday may have put a scare into some area families as they make their final preparations for trick-or-treating on Friday for Halloween. But according to the National Weather Service, Friday’s forecast is nothing to run from.
The NWS is calling for a dry, sunny day with temperatures reaching up to 59 degrees. In the evening, when most of the trick-or-treating is likely to take place, temperatures will be mild, dipping to a low of 38 on a clear night.
It hasn’t rained significantly on Halloween in this area since back-to-back All Hallow’s Eves in 2019 and 2020.
That forecast is good news for trick-or-treaters planning to out in their own neighborhoods, and those looking to attend one of the many Halloween events around the area.
UVA will host its traditional trick-or-treat event on the Lawn and west range from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
First Baptist Church on Park Street will offer a trunk-or-treat and pumpkin walk experience, also from 5-7 p.m.
