CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATED 8:55 A.M. 7/9:  A 40-year old gunshot victim from Fluvanna County was dropped off early Wednesday morning at UVA, while Charlottesville Police investigated a report of shots fired around 12:15 A.M. at 7 1/2 Street south of Cherry Avenue.

CPD in a release said the victim is listed in critical, but stable, condition.

Officers were investigating in the 600 block of 7 1/2 Street SW into daybreak collecting evidence inside a residence.

The incident is not far from a July 4 night shooting on Orangedale Avenue that injured five people, including two children.

There’s no other information on the latest shooting at this time, and it’s not known if the two incidents could be related. The investigation is ongoing.
