CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Steven Kyle Smith was handed down four life sentences along with an additional 60 years for charges of child molestation as well as filming and possessing child pornography.
Smith, who entered a guilty plea in October, was charged for two counts of sodomy with a victim under 13 years old, two counts of object sexual penetration with a victim under 13 and two counts each for both possession and filming of child pornography with a victim under 15 years old, according to a release from the Greene County Sherriff’s Office.
The sentencing came just over 11 months after a search warrant was issued on Smith’s temporary residence in Madison County on March 14. While he was not home at the time of the search, he was later located and arrested in Culpeper.
He was initially charged with possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography as well as taking indecent liberties with a child while in a custodial or supervisory relationship, but police anticipated additional charges.
In its press release, the Greene County Sherriff’s Office expressed its gratitude toward its Investigation Division for the long hours it worked on this case.
