CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Gloria Witt, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia’s 5th District, discussed her campaign motivations and goals during an appearance on WINA Morning News. Witt stated that her decision to run was influenced by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She expressed concern that future generations might not have the same rights she experienced.

Witt highlighted the need to increase voter engagement, particularly among African American men, who she noted may be less motivated to vote. She emphasized the significance of voter turnout in the upcoming November 2024 elections.

On economic issues, Witt stressed the importance of enhancing education and career technical skills to support economic development. She believes that many high school graduates struggle due to a lack of skills, advocating for policy changes to address this challenge.
