Gary Dale Hartwell, 82, of Charlottesville, Va died on September 27th 2024 at home in Charlottesville, VA.
Born October 6th 1941 in Charleston, WVa, he was the son of Nellie and Wallace. He was preceded in death by brother Delano, father Wallace, mother Nellie and sister Gail.
Gary was a loving husband and father and a pioneer in the field of radiology. He retired from The University of Virginia Medical Physics Department in 2010 after 35 years. Post retirement he most enjoyed traveling with his family, following his grandchildren Ava and Sam in their athletics and of course cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Nikki Hartwell, son Brent Hartwell of Charlottesville, Va, son Brad Hartwell of Ruston, La, grandchildren Ava Hartwell and Sam Hartwell of Ruston, La, brother Wayne Hartwell of Charleston, WVa, Sister Joyce Finks of Baltimore, Md and sister Cathy May of Grand Rapids, MI.
