Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville’s beloved free concert series, Fridays After Five, is set to return on April 18, 2025, at the Ting Pavilion. The opening night will coincide with the Tom Tom Festival, making for a lively downtown experience. “It’s gonna be wild,” said Jason Drohlshagen, general manager of the Ting Pavilion. “It’s gonna be happening.” The first show will feature Asheville-based guitar virtuoso Isaac Hadden, alongside Elby Brass, who will lead a parade before performing on the main stage.

This season’s lineup promises a mix of local and regional talent. On May 2, the event will collaborate with Charlottesville City Schools to showcase student musicians and artwork, headlined by Free Union. Later in the month, the May 30 performance will feature the Skip Castro Band, coinciding with the University of Virginia’s reunions weekend. “That’ll be a big one for us,” Drohlshagen said. “Local Charlottesville music legends.” The series will also include acts like Afro Asia, Dogwood Tales, and Ramona and the Holy Smokes, culminating in a performance by The Southern Belles on June 27.

In addition to live music, Fridays After Five continues its tradition of supporting local nonprofits. Volunteers from these organizations will serve drinks, with the proceeds benefiting their causes. This year there will be a cashless system, which organizers say will streamline service. “You can just walk up to where you’d like to order from and be on your way very quickly,”Drohlshagen explained. With a strong community focus and an exciting schedule, Fridays After Five is set to bring another summer of music and connection to Charlottesville.
