CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Free Enterprise Forum tells Albemarle County leaders the Board of Supervisors needs to expand the development area by at least 2% for “a thriving economy” in its AC’44 update of the Comprehensive Plan. Free Enterprise Forum President Neil Williamson tells WINA Morning News that County Economic Development Director Emily Kilroy says the sweet spot in a 5-tier rating of readily developable land is “tier 4”, which is land where infrastructure is in place, site challenges have been addressed, and a project could be brought to market in 12-to-18 months. Only one single property “tier 4” property exists in Albemarle’s current development area.
Willimson said an additional 5% would be even better, but 2% is needed for the stated goal of “a thriving economy” in AC44. Click here for more and to hear the Williamson interview.
