ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Starting the day after Christmas, Albemarle Parks and Recreation is operating eight free Christmas tree recycling drop-off sites. Trees may be dropped off from 7 a.m. until dark through January 19 at McIntire Recycling Center, Claudius Crozet Park, Greenwood Community Center, Chris Greene Lake Park, Darden Towe Park, Scottsville Community Center, Walnut Creek Park, and Simpson Park. All decorations, lights, stands, and nails must be removed from the trees prior to drop-off, and no yard waste is allowed. The recycled trees will be chipped into mulch, which will be available free of charge beginning January 20 at Darden Towe Park and Claudius Crozet Park.
