FREE BRIDGE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County is letting the public know ahead of shutting down Free Bridge Lane which runs along the Rivanna River toward a small entrance to Darden Towe Park… and are making it a promenade. County Communications Director Abbey Stumpf tells Morning News this starts Friday when the gates go up closing the road to vehicular traffic. The county’s been working on this project for a couple of years, and Stumpf says there doing the next 12-months as a pilot to see if it’s a good idea now that it’s enacted.

She says there is a parking area at the location where people will still be allowed to park during the day. She says they’re working on a possible spring event at the riverfront setting to bring more attention to the area. Click here for all the information.
