For the first time in program history UVA Womens’ tennis will be able to count two Olympians in their alumnae. The USTA announced Thursday that Danielle Collins and Emma Navarro will join the US Women’s Tennis team for Paris 2024.
Navarro played her collegiate tennis in Charlottesville for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She won the NCAA singles title as a freshman in 2021 and went 51-3 in singles play in 2022.
Collins played for UVA for three seasons, 2014, 15, and 16. During that time, she won two NCAA singles titles, in 2014 and 2016. She turned pro with strong results after graduation, among her accomplishments are two semifinal trips at the Australian open, an appearance in the doubles semifinals at Wimbledon, and 4 WTA singles titles. Both Collins and Navarro will compete in Singles action in Paris, and Collins will also be part of a doubles team with Desirae Krawczyk in the Games’ tennis portion.
