INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Former UVA swimmer Kate Douglass has 5 Olympic medals including 2 golds; 15 NCAA titles, and had set 3 American records… but the one thing that’s eluded her during her entire career was an individual world record. She’s taken care of that Thursday in Inchon, South Korea as Kate swam the 200 Meter Breaststroke SCM in a world record 2:14.16, breaking a record that had stood for 15 years. This on the 1st day of the 2nd stop of 2024 Women’s World Cup.

For her efforts, Douglass is ranked #1 in the early Women’s World Cup rankings, 3 ahead of Regan Smith… and a full 10 points ahead of 3rd place Mary-Sophie Harvey.
