DETROIT, MI (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – After 10 years, former UVA basketball standout Joe Harris is announcing his retirement from the NBA. In four years at UVA under head coach Tony Bennett from 2010-to-2014, the man who became known in the NBA as “Joey Buckets”, Harris finished first all-time in games played, 2nd in 3-point-percentage and 3-pointers, and 11th in scoring with 1698 points. In the NBA with Detroit, Brooklyn, and Cleveland, Harris averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds. A 3-point marksman in the NBA, he shot nearly 44% from behind the arc in the NBA and won the 2019 All-Star 3-point competition.
