Charlottesville, VA (cvilleirightnow.com):Back on the 30th of January, two former (Virginia) Cavalier Basketball stars squared off against one another in a mid-season NBA clash.  As the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers tipped-off, guard De’Andre Hunter found himself charging down the court against his former teammate at the University of Virginia, Ty Jerome.  Hunter put up 25 off the bench in the losing effort for the Hawks, while Jerome’s Cavs came out on top 137-115.  Jerome, for his part, put up 20 with six assists, also off the bench.

About a week on from that game, the struggling Hawks have elected to maximize Hunter’s value in the midst of a career year, sending him to the Cavaliers in exchange for two players, journeyman guard Caris Lavert, who started three games for Cleveland this year, and powerful forward Georges Niang, three second round picks, and two pick swamps in the second round.

Now Hunter joins his former sharpshooting teammate Jerome on a Cavaliers squad that has only lost ten games this season and is prepping for a playoff run come spring.  Both men are playing the best Basketball of their NBA careers and will promise to be even more lethal as a unit.  We will see in the coming days whether or not they get the opportunity to share the court together once more.
