CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 45-year-old Charlottesville man, apparently angered over receiving an incorrect food order, has been arrested for threatening to blow up the Bojangles in Pantops on New Years Eve Day, Albemarle County Police announced Tuesday.
Anthony M. Scott is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail on charges of threatening to bomb, burn, destroy, or discharge a firearm at a building and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
“We take all threats of violence seriously, regardless of what may have prompted them,” said Major Camille Stewart, Deputy Chief of Police for Professional Standards and Criminal Investigations, in a statement. “Threats like these are thoroughly investigated and, as this case shows, can result in serious criminal charges.”
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, Bojangles staff reported to police that they had received threatening phone calls, according to the ACPD. Detectives were able to identify the suspect. On Jan. 20, ACPD and Charlottesville Police officers executed a search warrant at a residence where a firearm and ammunition were recovered and Scott was taken into custody, the ACPD release said.
“An ACPD K-9 trained for explosives was utilized during the search warrant, but no explosive devices or materials were located,” the release said.
