PALMYRA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Five Fluvanna County bands are getting together this Friday at Cunningham Creek Winery for a benefit concert for western North Carolina. Scott and Karen Tolley McIntyre with Wrong Way Johnny. one of the bands playing, told 106-1 The Corner’s Samantha Federico a friend of theirs from Yancey County, NC was on-tour out west when Helene hit. They had no idea if their house would be there when they got back. Trey Mitchell, who plays bass for Cake Fight, says Scott and Karen approached him about doing a benefit concert. Mitchell said he was at a loss about the tragedy and gave some money and wanted to do more and this benefit just “felt right”.

So Wrong Way Johnny, Cake Fight, Jefferson Speedboat, Gary Hawthorne of Tobe Fare, and Eliza Mose will play at Cunningham Creek will start playing Friday evening at 5:30. In lieu of a cover charge, they’re asking to submit a donation of $5 or more which will go to the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County… as well as some proceeds from wine sales and sales from two food trucks.
