PALMYRA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Flood warnings are dwindling as the day progresses and rain continues to slowly taper off into cloudy skies. There is a flood warning through 11pm Wednesday night for the Rivanna River at Palmyra where the flood stage is 17 feet, at 9:20 Tuesday morning the river was just over 23 feet, and the crest is expected at 23.5 feet Tuesday afternoon. At 22-feet, some farmland floods downstream near Carysbrook Road, and 18 feet floods the Crofton Boat Ramp. After cresting Tuesday afternoon, the Rivanna is expected to go back below flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.
