FISHERSVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Staunton man faces multiple charges after attempting to flee Augusta County deputies as they attempted to serve multiple warrants on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Deputies made contact at 11:58 a.m. in attempt to Christopher R. Hutchinson at an apartment complex on Bobby’s Way in the Fishersville area. At 12:02, 35-year-old Hutchinson jumped out a window ran from deputies on foot.  The foot pursuit went across Jefferson Highway toward the Wilson complex.  Out of an abundance of caution, the Wilson Schools were placed on a secure while deputies established a perimeter and searched for Hutchinson.  Deputies in the woodland area near Truitt Lane took Hutchinson into custody without incident at 12:40. Hutchinson was then taken to Augusta Health for an injury he sustained while running during the foot pursuit.

Hutchinson was arrested on two outstanding warrants:

Felony Violation of Probation from Augusta County Circuit Court.

Capias from Waynesboro Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

He is now charged with Obstruction of justice, as well.

An additional charge of 18.2-460, Obstruction of Justice was also obtained.

Hutchinson is being held without bond at MRRJ.
