CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – An Albemarle County home near James Monroe’s Highland is a total loss, leaving two people looking for a place to live, as fire destroys a house last night in the 3000 block of Rolling Road. Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 9 Monday night and arrived about 15 minutes late to find heavy smoke and fire from the home. Two residents were home at the time and had successfully evacuated. One individual received a medical evaluation at the scene and is okay, but a pet cat is missing.
The single-family home is considered a complete loss, and the two residents are displaced and receiving help from family members and the Red Cross. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
