Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Melanie Benjamin, Executive Director of the Center at Belvedere, joined Morning News to discuss delayed openings and the center’s approach to promoting healthy aging in the new year.
Benjamin highlighted the center’s focus on holistic health, emphasizing that fitness is only one part of the equation. “It’s not just about physical fitness; it’s about social and spiritual, and environmental and vocational,” she explained. She emphasized the importance of incremental change, encouraging individuals to ease into a fitness journey rather than diving in too quickly, which can increase the risk of injury.
In addition to fitness classes, the center offers resources for members to engage in volunteer opportunities and even practical advice on estate planning. “If you make a plan, then you control things a little bit more,” Benjamin advised. ” Benjamin advised that taking incremental steps, such as organizing financial documents, can make a significant difference.
The Center at Belvedere continues to provide a space for individuals aged 50 and better to explore opportunities for wellness, education, and connection in the community.
