ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Around 12:08 p.m. today (12/6), Albemarle County Fire Rescue crews—both career and volunteer—were called out to a residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Timber Pointe Road. When they arrive on scene, they discovered flames in the home’s attached garage.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the blaze under control. Fortunately, nobody was inside at the time, and the property owner is now helping the displaced resident. After looking into the cause, the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office found that the fire started due to an electrical malfunction at an outlet.
As a reminder, Albemarle County Fire Rescue recommends double-checking that your smoke alarms are working and making sure you know at least two ways out of every room in your home. You can find tips for creating a solid escape plan at www.albemarle.org/SafeatHome.
