Edwin Eugene Banks, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, departed this life here on earth Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024.

Edwin was born December 24, 1959, in Charlottesville, Virginia to Edward M. Banks and Pearl S. Washington. Edwin accepted Christ at an early age and joined the New Hope Baptist Church, Esmont, Virginia.

Educated in the Albemarle County Public School system. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He has been a Head Chef for multiple restaurants in Charlottesville. Edwin relocated to Florida where he specialized in Electronic Sales for 7 years before returning home to Virginia. Edwin was a manager for the City of Charlottesville Parking where he resigned due to his declining health, Edwin being the persistent person that he was he then gained employment with Enterprise Rental as a vehicle transporter until his demise.

Edwin made his transition surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by James Washington affectionately known as Pop; his grandparents both paternal and maternal; his uncles, James Banks, John Willie Banks, and Earl Smith, and Aunt Nettie Franklin (Primrose).

Edwin leaves to cherish his loving and devoted mother, Pearl Washington; his father, Edward Banks(Aretha); Four siblings, Eric Banks and Varonda Parker both of Keswick, Virginia, Dante Banks(Jennifer) of Richmond, Virginia, Crystal Banks of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Two children Chrystal Banks of San Antonio, Texas and Phillip Banks(Karen) of Buckingham, Virginia; two God children, Ashley Bell of Honolulu, Hawaii and Tristan Nibbins of Charlottesville, Virginia; three Grandchildren, Kavone, Tremaine and Christian all of San Antonio, Texas; a faithful God Mother, Helen Carter; devoted friends Donna Yates, Lillie Williams, Sheldon Robinson and Laurie Harris; a special friend Keenzee Marable and host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church 2275 Porters Rd Esmont, Virginia 22937.
