CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 58-year-old Dyke man, wanted on outstanding warrants for shoplifting and felony eluding, was arrested Saturday by the Albemarle County Police Department after a pursuit up Seminole Trail.
Jeffrey Wayne Shifflett, was taken into custody after the chase, which ended with a foot pursuit in Earlysville area. He is now being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
“At approximately 5:38 p.m., an ACPD officer traveling in the area of Seminole Trail and Rio Road observed a wanted suspect operating a vehicle with improper registration. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle failed to yield, initiating a vehicle pursuit northbound on Seminole Trail,” ACPD said in a statement. “During the pursuit, officers attempted to utilize a controlled maneuver to safely bring the vehicle to a stop. While in the Earlysville area, the suspect exited the moving vehicle and fled on foot.”
Shifflett had previously fled from the police on Sept. 3 and Oct. 13, according to the release. He now faces three counts of felony eluding, three counts of driving without a license, felony property damage, and additional traffic infractions.
