MT JACKSON (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State Police say a New Jersey tractor-trailer driver sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries Saturday after a tire-blowout caused a dramatic, fiery crash on I-81 in Shenandoah County. Sgt. Brent Coffey says the 42-year old driver from Lake Hopatcong, NJ was driving a 2025 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer north on 81 just before 4 Saturday afternoon at the 272-mile marker near Mt. Jackson when a tire blew. The force caused the driver to lose control, and the truck struck a guardrail, jacknifed, then burst into flames, sending heavy black smoke billowing.
